“Das Traumhotel” - Sri Lanka as film set

Neue Folge des Traumhotels vor der Kulisse Sri Lankas

It’s time again – on the 22nd of January at 8.15 p.m. ARD will air the newest episode of the popular TV production “Das Traumhotel”.
This episode was already filmed by the Traumhotel team in February 2009 over six weeks at some of the most beautiful locations on the island.
“For the film shooting of Traumhotel we usually go for exotic destinations that entice the audience to go on a daydream. Sri Lanka provides such a vast diversity in such a small place which are very advantageous for shoots”, says Lisa Film Managing Director Thomas Hroch.

The 13th episode takes the hotel manager Markus Winter alias Christian Kohlund to Sri Lanka. On Sri Lanka Markus Winter can expect to find endless sandy beaches, mystic temple complexes, tea plantations and new challenges.
The shooting mainly took place in the luxurious Mount Lavinia Hotel (near Colombo). It can look back on a more than 200 year history and was in past times the residence of the British Governor General Sir Thomas Maitland.
Also on the shooting schedule was the unique elephant orphan home in Pinnawela which is financed by the Sri Lankan government. Around 60 elephants live on the banks of Maha Oya. It is opened daily to visitors who can enjoy special highlights such as bottle feeding of young animals and elephant bathing in the river. In the current episode of “Das Traumhotel - Sri Lanka” a former manager from Germany Leon Groß, who is played by Bernhard Bettermann, has established and runs an elephant orphan home.
