Sydney – woken by lions and see koalas at breakfast

The animal world of Australia is renowned for being diverse, wild and mysterious particularly for kids. Questions such as: Do koalas snore and do emus sleep while standing can now be answered thanks to the concept introduced by Traonga Zoo in Sydney. The visitors have the chance with the Roar & Snore Experience to sleep next to the animal enclosures in specially designed tents. The next morning you are woken by the first roar of the lions.

The adventure begins at 6.15 p.m.. First you are served a typical Australian dinner and afterwards you are taken on a two hour night safari through the zoo. Here all participants have the zoo for themselves. On the walkabout under the open night skies you are able to gain a more detailed insight to the work of the keepers. In the morning after breakfast at 6.30 a.m. you are able to further see the daily routine of a zoo and feed the giraffes and stroke seals.

The tents are furnished to comfortable standards and there is even a shower. Furthermore al tents over a view to Sydney harbour, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Up to four people can occupy one tent.
Roar & Snore costs including overnight stay and board around 80 Euros per person, children between 5 and 17 years pay 50 Euros.
Another exceptional experience is provided by Sydney Wildlife World: In the midst of Darling Harbour visitors have recently the opportunity to have a typical Australian breakfast in the company of koalas. Next to a sumptuous breakfast in the midst of tropical plants and well known Australian marsupials participants receive a lot of information on this endangered species. One is also allowed to touch as every visitor is allowed to have a koala on their ram. A photograph will take a picture of this special moment.

In Sydney Wildlife World guests can enjoy the entire diversity of Australia’s flora and fauna. The park offers more than 6.000 types of animals that are partly endangered a perfect and natural habitat. With the so called „Animal Adventures“ visitors can experience the animals close up. Next to the breakfast with the koalas there are other tours: When feeding the kangaroos the guests are in the company of the most famous Australian animals. Colourful butterflies are released by the visitors from their brooder house. The tour through the bird house gives an insight into the colourful bird life of Australia including feeding.
