Sri Lanka - World Spice Food Festival in Colombo
Now for the fourth time the World Spice Food Festival is taking place from the 6th to 14th of November in Colombo. Guests are able to go on a culinary trip around the world in the 18 participating cafes, hotels and restaurants. In this week renowned cooks assume responsibility of the hotel and restaurant kitchens. They prepare specialties from their native regions like for example Cuba, Morocco or India.
One will also be able to find local dishes. In restaurant Raja Bojun which is centrally located in Colombo’s Galle Road one can indulge and taste Sri Lankan dishes. These include curries typical for the country or special cuisine from the north of Jaffna with excellent seafood.
As a host nation Sri Lanka is predestined for this culinary event: For centuries this island has enthused with its diversity of spices and enchanted both gourmets and food lovers. The ideal climate has a positive effect on the flora and fauna. Sought after and precious aromas and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, nutmeg or cloves are native to this island. As a tribute for the World Spice Food Festival a special spice ice has been created that is going to be served for the first time during this week.
