Praivit sponsors India tour for the UNESCO Fundraising Gala 2008
It was a great surprise to us when UNESCO proposed Praivit as a sponsor for the UNESCO Fundraising Gala 2008. The event manager Mrs. Hönig was struck by our sublime and unusual India tours. In the course of the event our tours were to be auctioned for a good cause.
We feel very honoured to have been selected as a sponsor for the UNESCO fundraising event. As a company we feel very much obliged to make a positive contribution towards creating a more just society and world for all.On the 1st November 2008 the donation gala took place in the ballroom of the Maritim Hotel in Cologne. The event was organised by the UNESCO special envoy Dr. h.c. Ute Henriette Ohoven. World class stars such as Oscar prize winner Goldie Hawn or singer Bob Geldorf were just some of the prominent guests of the evening. Further well known personalities such as the actor Udo Kier, entrepreneur Liz Mohn as well as fashion designer couple Cavalli were present. Also Prof. Dr. Karl Max Einhäupl the executive chairman of the neurology of the Charité Berlin accepted his invitation.
The gala that takes place every year is one of the most important revenue making events for the UNESCO and its program “Education for children in need”. The program is exclusively financed through private donations and it enables children in conflict areas to go to school or undertake vocational training. In very touching speeches Bob Geldorf and Dr. h.c. Ute Henriette Ohoven pleaded for commitment and help in supporting those most vulnerable. Even in the face of the world wide economic crisis and global warming one should not forget the destitute and poor.
Prominent supporters such as Sandra Speichert, Mariella Ahrens, Alfred Biolek, Bruno Eyron, Bruce Darnell and Luca Toni did not only provide the entertainment and laughs but also enticed the guests to go on a spending spree.
We from Praivit were particularly pleased of the success that our auction achieved. The holidays that were donated by us reached a total of 42,000 Euros on the evening. Our “India Tour” was auctioned at a price of 34,000 Euros and achieved the highest bid of the night.
