The Praivit Charity

From the 1st of January 2009 the Praivit Charity was created. We also want to make a positive contribution to creating a world that is more just and worth living in.

You would like to help but don’t know how? With your donation you can help to make this world a bit more humane. We place great emphasis on the issue that the donations directly and securely reach the intended purpose and those who are in dire need. It is of great importance to us to support small aid organisations locally that are able and can guarantee complete control and overview in respect to the administration of the donation.

Last year our travel journalist Myriam Alexowitz was in India and visited several aid organisations in Kolkata (Calcutta) and Chennai. Together with local organisers and project managers we have established our common visions and terms.

From the 1st of January 2009 the first project to be sponsored is the aid organisation Pioneer Trade (People’s Institute for Operational Research Training and Development) in Chennai. It is planned in future to include further aid organisations in other regions and countries.

The Praivit Charity and Pioneer Trade will champion the cause to ensure that all girls and boys that have reached school age receive a well grounded basic education as well as having a warm meal and drinks whilst at school. Equally there are great challenges in the areas of adolescent and adult education. In cooperation with local partners the Charity wants little by little to provide alphabetisation courses and implement vocational measures in the medical field, tailoring, bike repairs, tourism as well as arts and crafts. These training opportunities are a fundamental foundation for young people in order to enable them to achieve a long term income.

Children and teenagers should be given the opportunity to participate in computer courses. For this we want to provide and install the necessary materials such as computers, keyboards etc. The different courses are mostly given by voluntary staff.

People in the developing world suffer from malnutrition; seldom clean water is available which also makes hygiene and body care difficult. Sadly due to the lack of basic medical care even minor illnesses and infections may cause death. In rural areas there is hardly any medical care and hospitals can be hundreds of kilometres away from home. In the slums venereal diseases and HIV infections are on the rise: For these reasons the donations will be used to improve existential primary health care.

Praivit pledges:

  • Ensure that the origin and use of the funds is transparent and can be accessed by the public. We will frequently inform you on our Deluxe Traveller magazine on these issues

  • Any support and sponsoring is made without regard for sex, ethnicity or religion
