AirBerlin - Report on air traffic problems

Air Berlin

Today AirBerlin informed our team of Praivit Deluxe Travel as follows:

The aviation safety authorities have closed many airports and airspace in Central and Eastern Europe from Brittany to Paris, Berlin and the Baltic due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland and the resulting volcanic ash suspended in the atmosphere.

Like all airlines, Air Berlin is subject to governmental and air traffic control regulations.

Virtually all German airports have been closed, and are expected to remain closed until 6 PM. This specifically affects Air Berlin at the following German airports: Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen, Cologne, Münster/Osnabrück, Paderborn, Leipzig/Halle, Dresden, Erfurt, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Saarbrücken, Sylt, Rostock, Frankfurt.

No arrivals or departures will be possible at these airports until further notice. We would ask our passengers not to travel to the airport, but to check their flight status on the Web or on the toll-free telephone hotline 00800 5 737 8000.

Passengers may rebook or cancel flights affected by cancellations free of charge (to flights until 31 May 2010). You may rebook or cancel your flight within three days after the original departure date.

We are currently unable to make any accurate predictions as to how the European flight traffic situation will develop.
